An eco-neighbourhood intent on preserving biodiversity

The design of the Montévrain eco-neighbourhood aims at reaching high environmental performance offering a remarkable quality of life.

The eco-neighbourhood stretches over 153 hectares south of Montévrain, representing 28% of the municipality’s territory.
Acting as a bridge between the traditional Briard village and the train station district, it will also link the municipality to adjoining towns Chanteloup-en-Brie and Chessy.

Structured around a 21-hectare park surrounded by homes, facilities (day care centre, school complex, gymnasium, etc.), and business and leisure activities, the eco-neighbourhood will provide a quality setting.

The implemented development strategy is intent on being exemplary in terms of sustainable development, through:

  • Efficient transport based on public transport and soft transport
  • Optimal rainwater management
  • A blend of social and functional diversity
  • An exceptional setting within varied landscaped areas
  • Diversified practices fostering biodiversity
  • Quality architecture of high environmental performance

An initial design phase for the eco-neighbourhood is underway, and the first completions are being seen.

The first batches of Mont Evrin Park were thus open to the public from 2009 to 2010, while a low-energy-building-labelled Park & Ride will be delivered in December 2010.

Moreover, the Local Planning Authority and the municipality of Montévrain chose Nacarat and Marignan in late 2009 to deliver the eco-neighbourhood’s first housing programmes, including the first collective housing building made of wood in Ile-de-France.

The developers are committed to a “Habitat and Environment” certification issued by Cerqual[i] and to a low-energy building label (BBC), aiming at a very high level of environmental performance in terms of energy, rainwater management and materials used. These first two programmes represent 70 housing units each, devoted to assisted home ownership schemes.
